Studio Fix Liquid, Select Sheer, Powder Blush and Fluidline

As you may have noticed (esp those who regularly keeps me company here), I haven’t been blogging about beauty much. Since I’ve pretty much given up (at least temporarily) reviewing each and everything that arrives on my doorstep, I only get to write about the stuff that I buy and use. Much of what you’ve been seeing lately have been personal purchases and in the case of makeup and skincare I haven’t been inspired much. I’ve made it a point that I buy only the things I intend to use, hence, a trimmed down shopping list. However, it’s that time again that I have to replenish my makeup stash esp since my skin tone is back to its relatively normal state.
For those of you who are certified beauty aficionados, you’d know off the bat — one look at my post’s title — which makeup brand I’m referring to but for the sake of the rest whose interest are now piqued, it’s none other than MAC.

I also opted to get a makeup companion, which essentially serves to seal the foundation in place. I can either blame the humidity or my having failed to acclimatise to Philippine weather for the taxing time I have whenever I put on makeup lately. Well, to be frank, I’ve always had that problem. Skin would damp (quick to perspire, unfortunately) or oil up quickly which makes it hard to apply and blend e/s and blush. Can you imagine how frequent I need to clean my makeup brushes because of it? Anyway, got the Select Sheer Pressed Powder in the same shade, NC35.
And, on top of the fresh pot of gel liner, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack (same as the last one I got!), I also decided to get a new everyday blush — MAC Powder Blush in Mocha (matte). Honestly, I would prefer to go out with out makeup but if I were to put on a little, these four (4) items would do the job quite nicely. Even out my skin, a little something to put emphasis on my eyes and that bit of colour to brighten up my look then I’ll be all set. Of course, I’d love a bit of mascara, eyeliner and chapstick to complete it but I think you folks get what I was trying to say, yea?
MAC has become my go-to brand for basic makeup needs. I wish I’d get that spark (or should I say spunk?) back and explore other brands again. I can’t help that I’ve managed to find value in their products and they’ve satisfied me so far. But if there is a brand that I should look into, which one would you recommend that I try? I love e/s palettes of Shu Uemura, yes, but I’m hoping to get a feel of what the rest are using and loving. Some of these brands I’ve already tried and I’d love to know who among you have as well: YSL, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Laura Mercier, NARS, Smashbox, Urban Decay, Paul & Joe? Anyone ever tried makeup from Peter Roth, Josie Maran, Buxom, HourglassI know there are countless more out there but do you really have the time and resources to try them all? Ah, well. Do let me know. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!
