Danica Magpantay is the first Filipina and second Asian (the first was from South Korea!) to bag the Ford Supermodel of the World title and she's just 18 years old. Being the daughter of beauty guru and former supermodel, Lala Flores, you'd know that Danica was really born to do it, she only tried her hand at professional modelling just last year. "It wasn't like it came really easy—I guess God wanted it for me," she says.
This August, Preview celebrates Filipina beauty by putting Danica on the cover and shooting her with fellow Filipina Ford models Charo Ronquillo and Chat Almarvez for the inside spread. The three supers prove their mettle as they model Jerome Salaya Ang's Holiday 2011 pieces.
These women transform on and off cam; one moment they're laughing at each other's New York-related stories and the next they put on a game face that Tyra Banks would call "fierce" and "high fashion." There is no denying their talent.
According to behind the scenes chatter, the three supers hang out when they're in New York and since they usually get booked by the same designers, they get to chit chat (in Filipino!) backstage. They even talked about being exhausted with the thought of partying as they'd all rather stay indoors and rest when they're not running around the city for go-sees. "Now, I'm just focused on modelling," Charo quips.
